Strong-willed dreamer you are, you realize own slumber no problem. After a bit of searching, you find a gaping maw of an ancient stairwell. Seventy crumbling steps, the Cavern of Flame, and seven hundred steps more – just as you were told: the descend into Earth’s Dreamlands. The plane of fantasy and adventure, mighty swordsmen and mild gods, ancient lore and vile magick. The focus of your quest.
Hello, everyone! My name is Mykola, and I’m about to run a Genesys campaign inspired by Lovecraft’s Dreamlands. Think sword-and-sorcery, with a focus on exploring weird places and unraveling vile schemes. I picked Genesys for its nuanced roll outcomes and look forward to exploring its dramatic potential.
I have two friends –tried and tested players, we’ve been gaming together for over four years – and I am looking for one more player to round up the party.
- Player count: 3.
- Duration: 6–8 weeks (we’d chat afterward if we all want to continue).
- Time slot: Sundays 19:00 – 24:00 GMT+2.
- System: Genesys (new players are welcomed!)
- Requirements: you have a good mic and a webcam, feel like committing to the duration/timeslot, and are looking to hang out and play ttrpgs.
Campaign pitch, detailed
Premise
- You’re a trio of relatively new dreamers, adventuring through the Earth’s Dreamlands. Expect exploration, investigations and negotiations, espionage and heists – interlaced with action scenes and combat.
- The group has a Big Goal, that serves as the canvas for the story – but it’s not something directly actionable and more like an inciting incident. We’ll set that together at session 0.
- Genesys does not strike me like a tactical system
- Themes: escapism, gaining mastery and passing it on, reimagining oneself.
Tone
- Heroic and pulpy: punch a hooved pirate of Leng, hang head down from zoog’s snare, or sneak into the temple of desert astrologers to steal their maps.
